Man City.

When Sheikh Mansour hired a manager who has won 6 league titles in almost as many seasons in management, not to mention two champions league titles – well, let’s just say he wasn’t mucking around. Widely regarded as one of the worlds best managers – Pep Guardiola arrives at the Etihad with his own philosophy, fresh ideas, and hopefully he can bring some fans to fill the empty seats too. As Pep comes in, Pepperoni goes out. A ban on pizza that is, as the Spaniard shapes up his amigos with a new diet regime. The project at Man City is not quite as straightforward as previous roles though. At Barca and Bayern he was building on teams that had all the components ready to succeed. This City team however will take patience, he will get them playing his way but it could take time. The one thing they do have is talent in their ranks and the success of their season could much depend on whether Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany can stop visiting the school nurse and come out to play. Their odds on favourites for the title and you can see why, but they might be one slice short of a full serving this time.

Key man: Sergio Aguero

Best signing: Ilkay Gundogan

Verdict: 2nd
